Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Understand the whole person — not just the symptoms.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that may affect attention, activity level, impulse control, executive functions, learning, behavior, emotional regulation, and everyday functioning.
At DSC, we do not define an individual by an ADHD label or by a single symptom or test. We seek to understand the whole functional profile of the individual, including strengths, abilities, challenges, environmental factors, and the impact of difficulties across daily life.
What Do We Assess?
Depending on the individual’s age and needs, our multidimensional assessment may explore:
- Attention and sustained focus
- Hyperactivity and impulse control
- Executive functions and self-regulation
- Working memory and processing skills
- Learning and academic performance
- Language and communication
- Emotional and behavioral regulation
- Social functioning and adaptive skills
- Motivation and environmental factors
- Strengths, talents, interests, and areas of potential
- Other developmental, psychological, educational, or medical factors that may contribute to or resemble ADHD-related difficulties
What Support May Be Provided?
Based on the individual’s needs and assessment findings, the intervention plan may include:
- Individualized behavioral and self-regulation strategies
- Behavior modification and, when appropriate, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Executive-function and organizational skills training
- Attention and learning strategies
- Academic and educational support
- Parent and caregiver training
- Classroom and environmental strategies
- Social and emotional skills development
- Psychological or other specialized support when indicated
- Coordination with relevant professionals when a broader multidisciplinary approach is needed
Our Approach at DSC
ADHD is not simply about “not paying attention” or “being hyperactive.”
We look at how the individual’s abilities and challenges interact with their learning environment, relationships, emotions, behavior, and everyday demands.
Our goal is not merely to reduce symptoms. It is to identify strengths, overcome barriers, develop functional skills, improve participation and independence, and help each individual reach their potential.
Start with Understanding
If you or your child is experiencing difficulties related to attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, learning, behavior, or self-regulation, the first step is to understand the individual’s multidimensional profile and determine the most appropriate pathway.
