Mental Health Assessment & Psychological Profile
Understand the Person Before Defining the Problem
Mental health cannot be understood through a symptom, questionnaire, or diagnosis alone.
At DSC, psychological assessment is the starting point for understanding the whole person—their emotional state, thinking patterns, behavior, relationships, functioning, strengths, stressors, coping resources, and the factors that may be contributing to their difficulties.
We look beyond:
“What is wrong?”
to ask:
What is happening? Why is it happening? How does it affect everyday functioning? What strengths can be built upon? And what kind of support is most appropriate?
Depending on the individual and the referral question, assessment may explore:
- Anxiety, mood, stress, and emotional regulation
- Cognitive and executive functioning when relevant
- Personality and psychological functioning
- Attention, behavior, and coping patterns
- Social and interpersonal functioning
- Academic, occupational, and daily functioning
- Family and environmental factors
- Strengths, protective factors, and available resources
- Developmental and other relevant psychological factors
The outcome is not simply a label or test score.
It is a clearer psychological and functional profile that helps guide individualized recommendations, intervention, referral, and follow-up.
The DSC Difference
We do not assess to place a label.
We assess to understand the person—and determine the most meaningful pathway forward.
Assessment → Psychological Profile → Individualized Plan → Intervention → Progress Monitoring
